Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign nationals and international graduates who want to work and live in one of Canada’s four Atlantic Provinces — Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island.

In most cases, the applicant must obtain a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in order to obtain a Canadian job offer valid for immigration purposes. But through Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program, LMIA is not required. Instead, the job offer must be from a designated Canadian employer.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP)

This is an employer-driven program that aims to bring foreign workers to the region to fill labour gaps and fill positions for which Canadian citizen or permanent resident workers are not available.

Three Streams of Application

There are 3 streams under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot, which target different types of candidates depending on labour needs in each region.

High-Skilled Program is aimed at skilled workers with professional, management, or technical job experience. The job offer must last for at least one year.

Intermediate-Skilled Program is aimed for jobs requiring a high school education and/or job training. The job offer must be permanent.

International Graduate Program is for candidates who have a degree, diploma or other credential from a publicly-funded institution in an Atlantic province. Work experience is not required. The job offer must last for at least one year.

For all 3 streams, a foreign national have to show proof that they meet the language, education and work experience requirements, they have a job offer from a designated employer, and that they have enough money or individualized settlement plan to support themselves and their family when they come to Canada.
